Marietta College Legacy Library

Institutional Construction
in Marietta, OH

In 2007, Grae-Con completed the construction of a new 54,000 sq.ft. library. This four level structure boasts a high-technology distant learning center, café & lounge, and numerous reading areas to take in the thousands of books, documents, and periodicals. The building features a bell-shaped dome metal roof, a full brick and cast stone masonry veneer, and a courtyard and outdoor amphitheater to complement the expertly designed structure. Grae-Con faced many obstacles on this project, including a design that needed to be value engineered to meet the clients budget, a very condensed site with no lay-down area on site, a short time frame with winter masonry operations, and an impressive 1,600 cu.yd. monolithic nighttime foundation pour. This project was completed in 16 months.
