80" Auto Roll Change

Industrial Construction
in Mingo Junction, OH

In February 2006, Grae-Con completed the work on the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Auto Roll Change System at the 80” HSM. The state-of-the-art new roll quick change system is the first one built in the United States. It consists of a “rolling floor” that assists in changing out the rolls on the 80” mill. The system offers a considerable amount of time savings for WPS, approximately ten minutes per roll change.

Grae-Con acted as general contractor on this project. The thirteen month project required approximately 1,520 Tons of Danieli structural and support steel, along with over 4,219 anchor bolts and 335 cubic yards of concrete.
